The governor of Lagos state, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Monday, September 17, reportedly asked at an event if he was qualified to speak after the national leader of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, had addressed the audience.
“Actually, I didn’t prepare to come and say anything here… And who am I to speak after the Jagaban has spoken?” Governor Ambode reportedly asked at the launch of a book authored by Jim Ovia, the founder of Zenith Bank Plc.
The event had top Nigerian leaders including governors in attendance.
Ambode’s comment reportedly caused laughter as he spoke upon invitation just immediately after Tinubu who was a governor of Lagos between 1999 and 2007.
“Congratulations to Jim Ovia on the publication of his new book ‘Africa; Rise and Shine’.
“I am certain that the wealth of experience shared will serve as a compass for young entrepreneurs who dare to dream and redefine the African narrative,” the governor later said in a tweet.
NAIJ.com earlier reported that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) said the embattled Lagos state governor, Akinwumi Ambode, has not approached the party for its governorship ticket.
