- Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo joined Serie A champions Juventus in a mega deal this summer

- He ended his nine year reign with the current European champions Real Madrid after the World Cup

- The European football governing body are planning to investigate the deal for financial fair play discrepancy

UEFA are reportedly investigating Italian League champions Juventus over the signing of Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 33-year-old joined the Old Lady in a mega deal valued around £99 million from Real Madrid after spending nine seasons at the Santiago Bernabeu.

His arrival at the Allianz Arena meant Juve spent a total of £217 million during the transfer window which saw the likes of Douglas Costa and Joao Cancelo join the Turin club.

However, the Sun quoting Calcio Mercato claims the deals could come back to haunt them as they are set to be scrutinised by the governing body to check their spending in the last window.

Meanwhile, Juve will argue that they balanced their financial books after selling Mattia Caldara and Gonzalo Higuain.

Legendary Gianluigi Buffon also ended his reign and join Paris Saint-Germain after failing to win the Champions League with the club.

Ronaldo's extraordinary wages will be called into question after agreeing a contract worth around £200,000-a-week on his four-year deal.

But they will be hoping the extra revenue raised by Ronaldo's signing including shirt sales, increase in ticket demand and a new television deal will help soften the blow.

Ronaldo finally kick-started his career in Serie A with his first goals for the club in a 3-0 win over Sassuolo at the weekend.

Legit.ng previously reported that Cristiano Ronaldo has agreed to join Italian champions Juventus in a staggering £88m deal after club's President Andrea Agnelli traveled to Greece to convince him to join the Turin side.

After the exit of Portugal at the 2018 FIFA World Cup where they were sent out in the round of 16 stages, Cristiano Ronaldo took his family to Greece for holiday to relax before the new season will kick off.

Ronaldo who joined Real Madrid from Manchester United in 2008 for a then world record £80 million is the La Liga club's all-time top scorer with 451 goals in all competitions.
