The peace committee chaired by former head of state, Abdulsalami Abubakar, reportedly met with the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, over the inconclusive election in Osun state.
Sahara Reporters said Abubakar went into the meeting with the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto diocese, Matthew Kukah.
According to the report, the meeting is being held ahead of the rerun election in Osun state scheduled for Thursday, September 27.
It was learnt that the meeting held behind closed doors at Enugu Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja with details still sketchy at the time of this report.

The president of SNPM, Augustine Chukwudum, gave the commendation in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Sunday, September 23.
NAIJ.com also reported how hundreds of the supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party have stormed the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to protest against rerun elections ordered by the electoral umpire on Sunday, September 13 in Osun.
The protesters were armed with placards carrying various inscriptions including: ‘No To rerun’; ‘INEC, don’t conspire with APC’; ‘The people spoke on Saturday, announce the results’ among others.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) also dragged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to court over the declaration of the Osun state gubernatorial election (INEC) as inconclusive.
