Reports reaching NAIJ.com reveal that a bizarre occurrence at Berger area of Abuja left many citizens in shock. An unidentified aged lady was apparently nabbed with a newborn baby and couldn't prove she birthed the child.
A Facebook user, Opaluwa Ugbede-Ojo Omera shared the photos and clips from the incident which happened on September 25. According to him, the aged lady, was seen carrying a newborn baby who seemed unconscious. A suspecting citizen then asked if she was the mother of the child, given her age, he doubted the possibility of her birthing a newborn and immediately suspected she was a kidnapper.
The police was alerted and many people gathered as they asked her to prove she was the mother of the unconscious baby by breast-feeding the child. The aged woman was recorded attempting to feed the baby but she was accused of faking it.
The aged woman was then taken into the police van where she tried feeding the baby. She was also asked to call her husband to confirm she's indeed the mother of the child but she claimed that his number was unavailable.
Unsure of her version of the story, she was taken to the station, where proper investigations are to be carried out.
The rise of many kidnapping cases and incidents across Nigerian has made people feel unsafe in the country. There's been many stories on how children are sold for peanuts by sometimes even their parents.
According to a press statement sent to NAIJ.com by the force public relations office, CSP Jimoh Moshood, the incident took place at Anguwa Bala village in Karu local government area of Kaduna state.
NAIJ.com gathered that the victim was rescued without payment of any ransom.
