- Senator Ademola Adeleke has denied that he rejected to work with the governorship candidate of the SDP, Senator Iyiola Omisore
- Adeleke described as a hoax, trending news item that he rejected the possibility of working with Omisore
- In a statement, Adeleke openly expressed his willingness for cooperation and partnership with all progressive political forces to consolidate on the victory
Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the Osun governorship election, has denied reports that he was not open to discussions and alliance with the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Iyiola Omisore, ahead of the rerun election.
NAIJ.com gathered that a statement by Adeleke's director of media and publicity, Olawale Rasheed, noted that the allegation trending on social media that Adeleke’s family had rejected any possibility of working with Omisore was fake and a lie masterminded by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement said: “Senator Ademola Adeleke has openly expressed his willingness for cooperation and partnership with all progressive political forces to consolidate on the victory of last Saturday."
According to him, Adeleke has actually spoken with many political leaders and candidates in the last poll.
“It was therefore false to allege opposition to the involvement of Senator Iyiola Omisore in the push for victory tomorrow,” the statement said.
The statement noted that neither the PDP candidate nor Dupe Adeleke-Sani ever told the Senate president, Bukola Saraki, of Adeleke’s opposition to Omisore.
The statement further said: “If anything, the family was full of praise for Dr Saraki, Senator Omisore, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti and other leaders who have rallied round Senator Adeleke to reclaim the stolen mandate.
“We call on the public and affected political leaders to ignore the report. All hands are on deck for victory and no amount of fake news will stop Osun people from completing the liberation and redemption movement.”
The PDP and the APC are wooing Omisore, as three of the seven polling units where elections will be held on Thursday are located within his area of influence in Ife.
NAIJ.com previously reported that the SDP candidate in the September 22 governorship election in Osun state, Omisore, has agreed to work with the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the rerun election scheduled for Thursday, September 27.
The deal was sealed after a meeting between Chief Omisore and an APC powerful delegation team led by its national chairman, Comarade Adams Oshiomhole in Osogbo early Wednesday, September 26.
Also in the team are Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo, Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa, Governor Abdulahi Ganduje of Kano and Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun.
