- Former governor of Kebbi state, Usman Dakingari, reportedly joined the race for the House of Representatives
- Dakingari was said to have recently contested the Kebbi north senatorial election
- The state chairman of APC, Bala Sani Kangiwa, said he only heard that the former governor had picked the House of Representatives form in Abuja
Emerging reports have claimed that the immediate past governor of Kebbi state, Alhaji Usman Dakingari, has joined the race for the House of Representatives.
It was learnt that Dakingari collected the nomination/expression of interest form to contest for the House of Representatives to represent Suru/Bagudo federal constituency.
According to the reports by Daily Trust, the former governor obtained the form at the APC national headquarters in Abuja a few days ago.
Dakingari was said to have recently contested the Kebbi North senatorial election while leaving power during the last political dispensation but lost to Senator Yahaya Abdullahi.
The state chairman of APC, Architect Bala Sani Kangiwa, said he only heard that the former governor had picked the House of Representatives form in Abuja, adding that he was not officially briefed on the development.
Kangiwa said: “Yes, I heard he obtained the form in Abuja but I am yet to get the official list of people who are to contest the various seats in Kebbi state.
“This is not a new thing. A former deputy governor in Nasarawa state ran for councillorship seat in 2011. Dakingari is not corrupt like most former governors.”
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that former governor of Kebbi state, Usman Saidu Dakingari, was served with a 15 count charge by the bailiff of the Federal High Court Kebbi at around 1:51pm in his residence at GRA Birnin Kebbi.
According to the EFCC, the charge was served on the defendant through one of the occupants of his household, Mohammed Danladi, who collected the charge and the court order issued by the court granting the complainant leave to serve Dakingari alongside the 2nd and 3rd defendants.
Dakingari was supposed to be arraigned today before the Federal High Court Kebbi alongside three others: Sunday Dogonyaro, Abdullahi Yelwa and Garba Rabiu Kamba for allegedly receiving cash sum N700,000,000 (Seven hundred million naira) only from the former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Allison Madueke.
