The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a heavy blow as over 300 members of the party in Ekiti state have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The PDP members, who dumped the party on Friday, September 27, said they were fascinated by President Muhammadu Buhari's impressive performance at the centre, Vanguard reports.
NAIJ.com gathers that the defectors were led by Honourables Emmanuel Ogunlayi and Stephen Mosele. They said they to the APC defected because of Buhari's impressive performance.
Apart from President Buhari's performance, the defectors also said their defection was hinged on alleged dictatorial tendencies of the leadership of the PDP.
They accused the PDP leadership of imposing candidates and oppressing those perceived as opposition in a party that belongs to all of them.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that some chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the campaign train of the governor-elect of Ekiti state, Kayode Fayemi, rolled into four local government areas of the state.
The former minister of state for works, Prince Dayo Adeyeye, led other leaders to defect to the APC in Ise/Orun, Emure, Ikere and Ado, where Fayemi visited.
Among the defectors were former secretary to the state government, Afolabi Ojuawo; immediate past attorney general and commissioner for Justice, Owoseni Ajayi; and a member of the House of Assembly, Ebenezer Alagbada.
