Akwa Ibom APC's guber aspirant threatened with murder - Governor Udom calls for investigation

- Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom has raised alarm over allegations of murder attempt at Nsima Ekere, the managing director of NDDC

- Udom therefore called on the police command in the state to investigate the issue

- He also urged the state director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to probe the incident, and report its findings immediately

In response to reports on alleged murder attempt targeted at Obong Nsima Ekere, the managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom has alerted the police command in the state to carry out proper investigation.

The said allegation stemmed from an incident which reportedly occurred on Wednesday, October 3.

Moreover, in view of the seriousness of the nature of the allegation made by Ekere, the governor has also directed the state director of the Department of State Services (DSS) to probe the incident, and report its findings immediately

The Nation reported that in a statement signed by Eterete Udoh, the chief press secretary and senior special assistant on media to Governor Udom Emmanuel, the governor said: "It bears repeating that Akwa Ibom State remains one of the most peaceful States in the Federation and this was made possible because of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s avowed commitment to engendering peace, security and a spirit of brotherhood in the state."

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that one person had been killed in Akwa Ibom on Sunday, September 30, over the governorship primary of the APC in the state.

The victim identified as Ukeme Efanga, an APC member, was said to have been shot dead in Ifiayong, Uruan local government area, during a disagreement over the distribution of election materials in the area. NAIJ.com gathered that the late Efanga was a father of three children.

As at 8: 10pm, the victim’s corpse was dumped at the premises of the state secretariat of the APC, along Ikot Ekpene road, brought all the way from Uruan.

Two persons, a man and a woman, said to be the victim’s relatives, sat on the floor near the corpse, crying helplessly.
