Army promises cash reward to Jos residents for information on whereabouts of missing general

- The Nigerian Army is determined to find the missing Major General Idris Alkali, dead or alive

- A cash reward has been promised to anyone with useful information that will lead to his whereabouts

Nigerian Army has offered cash rewards to residents of Jos who will provide information that will lead to the whereabouts of missing Major General Idris Alkali whose vehicle was recovered in a pond in Lafendeg Du, Plateau state.

NAIJ.com gathered that the 3rd Amoured Division of the Nigerian Army made the promise, noting that they are determined to find the general either dead or alive to be re-united with his family or given a befitting military burial.

The deputy director, Army public relations, Col Kayode Ogunsanya, giving an update on the search and rescue efforts, said: “Since the commencement of the search and rescue operation as directed by Army Headquarters the following have been discovered in the abandoned mining pit.

"On September 28, a black Toyota Corolla car with number plates KWARA MUN 670 AA, a white T-shirt with Nigerian Army logo and the general’s name inscribed on it as well as a pair of canvass belonging to the missing senior officer were found.

“On October 2, a white Toyota Hiace bus with number plates PLATEAU RYM 307 XA, reported missing with the driver on June 24 and a red Rover car, number plates BAUCHI AG 645 TRR, reported to have been buried along with the occupants on 31 January 31, were also found.”

In a previous report by NAIJ.com, the Nigerian army has recovered some personal belonging of Major General Idris Alkali after his vehicle was discovered in a pond in Jos, Plateau state.

In a Facebook post by one Idris Ahmed Ahmed, it was reported that the clothes and shoes of the retired major general were recovered on Saturday, September 29.

Although his body has not been found yet, it is believed that Alkali was killed before his vehicle and other belongings were thrown into the pond.
