Three elected senatorial candidates from the three zones in Kaduna state were on Monday, October 8, issued certificates of return by the electoral committee set up by the national working committee of the APC to conduct primaries in the state.
Channel TV reports that the candidates include Uba Sani for Kaduna central, Suleiman Abdu-Kwari for Kaduna north and Bala Bantex for Kaduna south.
It was learnt that the incumbent Senator Shehu Sani had insisted that he was given an automatic ticket by the party’s NWC.
The committee also presented certificates to winners for the House of Representatives and State Assembly elections.
Mathew Idouriyekemwen, the electoral committee chairman, said the primary was free and fair and has the backing of the party’s national leadership.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that Senator Shehu Sani intensified efforts to convince the Kaduna state chapter of the APC to give him a return ticket to the Senate in 2019.
Sources within the party reportedly told Leadership that the senator representing Kaduna central senatorial zone has become increasingly desperate as the date for the APC Senate primaries draws nearer.
Another party member who also does not want his name disclosed said Senator Aliyu Wammako has also spoken to Buhari on Shehu Sani’s behalf.
