Reps adjourn plenary over demise of colleague

- Members of the House of Representatives have suspended legislative activities for one day to mourn their late colleague, Funke Adedoyin

- Adedoyin represented Irepodun Isin/ Ekiti /Oke Ero federal constituency of Kwara state until her demise

- The members had gone on annual recess since July 24 and were to resume fully today, on Tuesday, October 9

Members of the House of Representatives have adjourned their plenary to the next day over the demise of their colleague, Funke Adedoyin represented Irepodun Isin/ Ekiti /Oke Ero federal constituency of Kwara state.

The members had gone on annual recess since July 24 and were to resume fully, on Tuesday, October 9, after the primaries of their political parties ahead of the 2019 poll.

It was learnt that the lawmakers adjourned sitting immediately after holding a prayer session in honour of their departed colleague.

The motion for adjournment was moved by House leader, Femi Gbajabiamila. The House, however, resolved to resume the plenary on Thursday, October 11.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that there was unease at the National Assembly after some senators loyal to the APC allegedly vowed to remove Senate president, Bukola Saraki, and his deputy, Ike Ekweremadu, as the lawmakers resume from annual recess on Tuesday, October 9.

But senators belonging to the PDP, are reportedly fighting back and have resolved to resist any illegal move by APC lawmakers to force the Senate president and his deputy out of office.

The PDP lawmakers have insisted that leadership of the Senate is not by party affiliation but through an election by all the senators.

The party’s caucus cautioned the Senate leader, Senator Ahmad Lawan, to desist from any plan to cause problems in the Senate.
