- The Catalan giants want the left back to be a cover up for Jordi Alba

- Moreno has only played one game this season for Liverpool

Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has reportedly emerged as a January 2019 transfer target for reigning Spanish champions Barcelona.

This season, Alberto Moreno has not appeared for Liverpool in all their Premier League games played after losing his position to Andy Robertson.

His only appearance so far this season for Liverpool was in their Carabao Cup defeat against rivals Chelsea.

And according to the report by Mundo Deportivo and made available by Mirror UK, Barcelona chiefs are ready to lure the 26-year-old Spaniard to Camp Nou in January so as to be a back up for Jordi Alba.

Barcelona are also said to be considering a move for Valencia left-back Jose Gaya in case they fail in their attempt to sign Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno in January.

Jose Gaya has been drafted into the Spain set-up by Luis Enrique and is ahead of Alba in the pecking order.
