Argentina legend Diego Maradona is reportedly planning to stage a peace meeting with Barcelona star Lionel Messi.

The 1986 World Cup winning captain was said to have questioned decisions to make the 31-year-old captain of La Albiceleste after accusing him of going to the toilet for 20 times.

SunSport quoting Maradona's legend layer, Matias Morla, saying his client's words were misinterpreted by the media.

He said that the 57-year-old was trying to defend rather than criticise the five time Ballon d'Or winner.

The lawyer further put the blame on the Mexican TV reporter who got Maradona to lash out at his compatriot.

He however revealed that his client will be placing a call through to Messi later today (Wednesday, October 17) and explain what he meant in his earlier interview.

Having managed Argentina before, Maradona urged the Barca star to stay away from the national team.

The Barcelona superstar wasn't able to help his country avoid crashing out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia at the second round stage after losing to eventual winners France.
