With mobile phones as the world’s most personal devices combined with an already profiled subscriber base of almost 50 million, MTN Nigeria has created a mobile advertising technology platform for businesses to get their ad messages in the face of the right eyeballs.
Speaking at the unveiling of the MTN Mobile Ads, a new application platform for mobile advertising at a forum in Lagos yesterday, the company’s Chief enterprise Solutions Officer, Mr. Babatunde Osho, said MTN’s decision to introduce is the platform ahead if all other countries where MTN Group operators is to avail Nigerian businesses the opportunities to be the first beneficiaries of the innovative solution.
He said with a mobile adver-tising platform and a subscriber base of almost 50 million already profiled men, women, and children top whom brands can target advertising in a cost-effective and measurable manner, MTN Mobile Ads offers “a cost effective means for brands to directly target advertising at the mobile phones of prospects and customers, who need their products and services in a more measurer manner than many other channels currently provide.”
Explaining the various mobile advertisement features the MTN Mobile Ads, Osho said they the iSMS, which are text-based mobile advertisement that request information from the customer; SMS Flash Messages, which are text-based messages that pop up on the screen of a user’s mobile devices; and Rich Media, which allows the full complements of video, sound , picture, animation and text.
Other forms include Location Based mobile advertisement, which are used by orgainsations to target customers who are in close proximity; USSD Flash Message mobile advertisements pop up on the phone of the recipient making them impossible to ignore; IVR advertisements, which are jingles played to customers calling the MTN Call centre as they wait to be attended to and Caller Tunes, which are jingles played to callers and orgainsations who sub-scribe to the services.
The General Manager, Enterprise Marketing for MTN Nigeria, Mr. Ladipo Nylander, who also addressed the gathering of representatives of corporate organisations/advertisers, media buying agencies advert agencies, media and the members of the advertising community at the event, explained what the MTN Mobile Ads mean to the media agency.
According to him, “As a media agency, MTN Mobile Ads offers a broader range of channels to advertising agencies to deliver their clients messages to reach their target market; deliver richer, more effective integrated marketing communications media plans developed for clients while offering an additional revenue stream.
