Forum for Justice and Human Rights Defence on Sunday lamented the preferential treatment given to Taraba State Governor Danbaba Suntai after he and his aides were injured in a plane crash in Yola, Adamawa State on Thursday.
The National Coordinator of the group, Mr. Oghenejabor Ikimi, who spoke to our correspondent in Yenagoa, however, sympathised with the victims.
He questioned the rationale behind the decision of the Federal Government to fly the injured governor to Germany for treatment while abandoning his aides were left in a Yola hospital.
The group said, “We are seriously taken aback that while the Federal Government has flown out the injured governor to Germany for treatment, his aides are abandoned in a Yola hospital critically ill with severe injuries.
“We call on the Federal Government to immediately fly out the said aides for specialist treatment in Europe as what is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
“We like to remind the FG that it is her primary responsibility to ensure the welfare and security of her citizenery and as such we demand that the same treatment melted to the governor should also be extended forthwith to the said aides.
“We like to stress the need for government to totally overhaul our public hospitals by bringing them to the same standards obtainable with their counterparts in other countries in the interest of the downtrodden masses.”
