When a relationship ends, what may make it easier to move on is to have closure. Unfortunately, it is not always certain that closure will happen for one or both of the individuals. If you have gotten out of a relationship that you cannot seem to move on from due to lack of closure, there are ways to get through it.
1. Stop questioning yourself. Everyone deserves closure at the end of a relationship and, if the person denies it from you, it is most likely because he or she does not want to deal with the conversation or he or she is trying to have a form of control over the situation. It can also be a way of purposely hurting you. Either way, it is selfish on their part.
2. Stop questioning what you did or did not do because you may never be able to find out what really happened. You will only continuously torture yourself and it will prevent you from moving on. Hide or throw out any items your ex has given you This can be a difficult process, so you may want to enlist a friend to help you.
3. Take a big box and dump everything into it that your ex gave you. The more you look at these items, the more you are going to think of your relationship, how you cannot get the answers you want, and how you are not with this person anymore. Tape the box and put it away where you cannot see it and, when you are ready, discard of it. It is even better if you can bring yourself to discard these items right away.
4.Focus on you every time you start to have thoughts of your ex. This can be a little tricky to do, but it works. Make a list of all the things you want to change about yourself or your life. Put a bulleted list under each one of what how you can accomplish each task. Every time you start thinking of your ex, pick one of the bulleted items and do it immediately. It will help you to get your mind focused on yourself instead of in a negative direction.
5. Make plans for some fun. Whether it is with family or friends, if you make plans in advance, you will be less likely to stay home. Think of some plans you want to do, take out your calendar and start contacting everyone you think would like to accompany you. Not only will it get you out of the house and force you not to mope, but also you will be in good company and have the chance to meet new friends. Lack of closure can be the downfall of you moving forward, but only if you let it. You have a life ahead of you to live and you should enjoy it for yourself. As hard as it may be to get through, it is most certainly possible.
