Nigerians on Saturday thronged Ilodo in Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State for the burial of the National Chairman of the Peoples Party of Nigeria, Abiodun Odusanya.
Odusanya’s remains were conveyed into the Saint Peter’s African Church, Ilodo, about noon in a casket draped with the flag of the party for a funeral service.
Odusanya, 46, was committed to mother earth at his Ilodo, Ijebu-Imushin family residence.
He died on January 14 after a brief illness at the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Oyo State.
Earlier, the Vicar of the church, Rev. F.A. Adekoya, enjoined the congregation to strive to do good so as to be assured of a place in heaven.
Adekoya also urged the family members of the late PPN leader not to mourn as Odusanya had finished his race on earth.
The PPN governorship candidate in the 2011 governorship election in the state, Mr. Gboyega Isiaka, who led other stalwarts of the party to the funeral, described the death of Odusanya as a big blow to the nation.
His running mate at the poll, Mrs. Joko Odebunmi, expressed sadness that Odusanya died at his prime.
