Church To Build Estate For Widows

Life Gate Ministries International, Lagos, is advancing strategies to build an estate for widows.

In a chat with journalists in Lagos last week, the General Superintendent of the church, Reverend (Dr) Levi Adegbe said the move was to assuage the plight of widows that had lost the comfort of their matrimonial homes, following the demise of their husbands.

“Many widows have been quit from their homes after the death of their bread winners.

“Some have had their family houses built by their husbands confiscated by their husbands’ relations and left in the lurch with their children and have nowhere to live.

“Many more don’t have any means of livelihood and are just left in the cold by the day.

“It is against this background that I founded Friends of Widows and Orphans International (FOWAI), an NGO to help them.

“We have considered it imperative to build an estate for them to provide comfortable homes for them and equally give them other basic necessities of life and make life meaningful to them,” Adegbe said.

“Though it is a laudable project, the vision has to be fulfilled in the nearest future because it was Jesus, the husband of widows that gave me the vision a couple of years ago and I’m constrained to fulfil it to the letter,” he stressed.

“It’s a very expensive project. That is why we are appealing to government, individuals, private and Christian organisations, especially women organisations to support us.

“It’s not a project I can undertake alone. We need land, we need furniture, we need skill acquisition equipment among other facilities,” he stressed.

“I have the passion to do this because it is scriptural as in James 1:27.”

Reverend Adegbe, while explaining how he got the vision recalled, “In my dream, God led me to a very big parcel of land and showed me a factory with different trade departments. Some for hairdressing, some for bead making, some for cake making, some for fashion designing, some for soap making among others.

“Apart from this move, we have made it a yearly tradition to give widows a sense of belonging by sharing the love of Christ with them during the Christmas season.”

Recently Life Gate Ministries International threw its gate open to widows under FOWAI platform and showered them with Christmas gifts.

Adegbe said the gesture was in accordance with its tradition to make life meaningful to them during the festive period, to make them feel at home despite the absence of their bread winners.
