Good News: Four More Ebola Patients Discharged

Two male doctors, a female nurse and a patient, infected with Ebola Virus Disease have been discharged from the quarantine unit of the Emergency Operation Centre, EOC, at the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, Lagos.

They were discharged today, August 18 according to a statement by the Minister of Health's Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Mr. Dan Nwomeh.

The four persons were discharged after being certified free of the disease, Punch reports.

The statement reads in part: “The Minister of Health Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu has announced that four additional confirmed cases of Ebola Virus Disease who have been managed successfully and are now disease free have been discharged home today."

This bring to five the number of those who have survived the deadly Ebola Virus Diseaase (EVD) in Nigeria.

It would be recalled that one person had been discharged on Saturday. The Lagos sate governor disclosed that 61 of the patients who were quarantined over Ebola have been released.

According to a recent survey, by the World Health Organization, the Ebola outbreak has claimed the lives of 1,145 globally.
