Senate President, David Mark has called on Christians and other Nigerians to continue to live in peace and harmony with one another as Jesus Christ demonstrated through his death and resurrection.
Mark, in his Easter message yesterday noted that Jesus Christ died on the Cross of Calvary as a sacrificial lamb for the forgiveness of sins of mankind and urged Nigerians to use the Easter as a period of reconciliation with one another as exhibited by Christ.
In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media andPublicity, Kola Ologbondiyan, the Senate president said, “There are lessons we must learn from the sacrifice Jesus paid on the Cross of Calvary. He was sinless, condemned for our iniquities.
Despite the torments and pains, He was praying for his accusers and killers. We should emulate such virtues and have a forgiving spirit.” He also used the occasion to call on the Boko Haram sect and other warring groups across the country to sheathe their swords and embrace peace and forgiveness as one people and nation with a common destiny.
He condemned the continued killing of Nigerians by Nigerians, while urging aggrieved persons to express their grievances through the proper channel of dialogue.
