In line with the new law guiding local government in Benue State, the State Governor Dr Gabriel Suswam has terminated the tenure of the caretaker chairmen of 18 local governments out of the 23 council areas of the state, to pave way for another local government in September, 2012 .
The dissolution was contained in a press statement issued by Dr Cletus Akwaya , Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs to Governor Suswam.
He said the dissolution did not affect Gboko, Agatu, Okpokwu, Tarka and Makurdi council areas.
While thanking the caretaker chairmen for their selfless service to the state, the statement directed that the affected caretaker chairmen hand over to the director of administration in their respective councils.
The outgoing council chairmen were appointed almost a year ago pending the local government elections in the state.
