Robin van Persie hopes the Premier League title is just the first of many trophies at Manchester United after developing a taste for silverware.

The Dutchman's brilliant hat-trick in Monday's 3-0 victory over Aston Villa saw Sir Alex Ferguson's team regain the domestic crown from Manchester City.

And 29-year-old Van Persie, a £24million signing from Arsenal last summer, is keen for the success to be the start of trophy-laden era after a long wait for his first league title.

The striker said: "From now on this is our new standard and we want to be champions every year.

"We want to win more. You could tell from day one that everyone wanted this and we did well."

He added: "It makes me even more hungry. I want to win it again and win more stuff - the FA Cup, Champions League, League Cup - I want to win it all. It is a great first step but I want more. It tastes lovely."

In contrast to Van Persie, Ryan Giggs is celebrating his 13th league title and the 39-year-old Welshman's team-mate has paid a glowing tribute.

Van Persie said: "It's an honour for me to play with Ryan Giggs. I told him that.

"Every training session, the way he loves the game, he sets an example for every one of us, young and old. Every day he is unbelievable. He is 39 now but you cannot tell.

"He is fit, works his socks off and is a true example for young and old."
