There was pandemonium today as two bombs were detonated at the WTC primary school polling station in Enugu North local government area by operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu police command.
Reports by The Advocate had earlier indicated that there was a bomb blast, with no casualties reported as the bomb exploded before the election commenced.
The bombs were planted in a Honda Accord car and parked behind the WTC primary school by unknown people awaiting the commencement of voting.
However, Vanguard reports that two bombs were detonated at 8.56am at the same location by the operatives of the Anti-Bomb Squad of the Enugu police command.
The newly posted commissioner of police, Dan Bature, confirmed the incident at the scene, saying,’three bombs were found in a Honda Accord car with registration. Number KUJ 971 ABJ.
“One of the bombs exploded while we have just successfully detonated two. It was an Improvised Explosive Device, IED. We do not know who plant it.
“We are working assiduously to unravel the identity of the suspects. The suspects abandoned the car at the entrance gate. We are working to get the area safe.”
