Hoodlums Kill Kaduna Business Man

Suspected hoodlums at the Ungwan Dosa area of Kaduna State killed a businessman and injured one other person last Tuesday.

It was gathered that the businessman, Mukhtar Makarfi, was stabbed several times along Pawa Road in Ungwan Dosa. One of the victims, who survived with a deep cut on his hand, said he was alerted by some unusual noise when he rushed out of the house and was accompanied by his would be brother-in-law who was outside with his sister.

The survivor Muhammad Abdulrahman, who managed to speak to our reporter in pains at his family residence in Ungwan Dosa, said: “I rushed out of the house when I heard some unusual shouts around the neighbourhood around 9:30pm last Tuesday.

“We were told that some gangs of armed robbers were operating in a corner, about five blocks from our house, so I rushed to the scene of the shouting to verify.

“Three out of the gang members ambushed me in a dark narrow path and descended on me with dangerous weapons.

“I managed to dodge several attempts to stab me and was only able to defend an attack on my head with my left hand from a matchet that resulted to a very deep cut. Only for me to turn around and discover that my would-be in-law had been stabbed severally and was lying in his own pool of blood.

“These kinds of attacks have been happening in this area and so many innocent pedestrians have been attacked and robbed of their hand sets, money and other personal belongings in the area.

“Late Mukhtar and my sister Rakiya Muhammad were preparing for their marriage in December after seven years courtship before these criminals killed him in cold blood. My sister had been seriously traumatized by the incident”, he said.

Acting Police Public Relations Officer Balteh Abubakar confirmed the incident, saying the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for investigation.
