(Photos) Troops Kill 12 Terrorists, Clear Enclaves In Borno

Gallant soldiers of the Nigeria Army, on Sunday, December 20, reportedly killed 12 Boko Haram members in a bloody shootouts in Borno state.

In a statement issued by the acting director army public relations, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, on his Facebook page, the killings occurred in two different locations.

He said troops of 25 Task Force Brigade killed three terrorists in a shootouts at Damboa-Njaba-Bale road in the state, while troops of 7 Division Garrison on patrol at Mainari village in Mafa local government area of the state had an encounter with the terrorists and killed nine in a shootouts.

Colonel Usman said the troops also raided two different Boko Haram enclaves in parts of the state and recovered motorcycles and cache of arms from the raided hideouts after acting on a tip off on the secret camps.

The statement read in parts: “As part of their determined efforts to rid the society of all known Boko Haram terrorists enclaves and hideouts, troops of 25 Task Force Brigade based on tip off conducted a fighting patrol along Damboa-Njaba-Bale road in Borno State.

“The troops encountered and killed 3 suspected Boko Haram terrorists that had been terrorizing the communities around Sabon Gari and Damboa. Among those killed was the Boko Haram terrorists Ameer (Leader) in Bulayaga. The Ameer was notorious in terrorizing Bale, Wass and Mufurundi villages.

“The troops recovered an AK-47 rifle with its magazine, 43 rounds of 7.62mm Special Ammunition, 1 Grinding Machine and 5 Dane Guns. Other items recovered include 7 Motorcycles, 21 bags of grains and 2 Boko Haram terrorists flags hoisted.

“In a related development today, troops of 7 Division Garrison on patrol at Mainari village in Mafa Local Government Area had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists. The encounter led to the killing of 9 terrorists and recovery of weapons which includes 4 AK-47 and 1 Pump Action Gun. The patrol teams have continued to dominate the respective areas.”

Meanwhile, suspected Boko Haram terrorists have once again besieged the hometown of Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to wreak havoc for the second time in space of five months. The terrorists launched a dawn raid on the hometown of the Nigerian army chief, triggering a fierce gun battle with troops.

Recall that Boko Haram militants had earlier ambushed the convoy of the Nigeria’s chief of army staff, few weeks after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed him the new chief of army staff on July 13, but the sect members were fought off by the soldiers under his command.
