The police in Lagos Tuesday arraigned three former staff of THISDAY Newspapers at the Magistrates’ Court, Apapa for stealing properties worth N1.4 million belonging to the company.
The suspects, Ogunmefun Emmanuel, Fasanmi Arifajogun and Oladipo Sunday and others who are at large worked as printers in the media house. The three others are Kolawole Olatunde, Femi Iyajujemi and Sunday Bisong. They are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing 20 big rollers valued at N1.4 million. The offences for which they were charged are contrary and punishable under section 409 and 285 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. The suspects were however granted bail by the court as it adjourned the matter to October 29, 2012.
The charges read: “That you Ogunmefun Emmanuel ‘m’, Fasanmi Arifajogun ‘m’ Oladipo Sunday Oluranti ‘m’ 3 others Kolawole Olatunde ‘m’, Femi Iyajujemi ‘m’ and Sunday Bisong ‘m’ now at large, on the 20th April, 2012 at about 0800hrs at Apapa, in the Apapa magisterial district did conspire to commit felony to wit stealing thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 409 of the criminal code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.
“That you Ogunmefun Emmanuel ‘m’, Fasanmi Arifajogun ‘m’ Oladipo Sunday8 Oluranti ‘m’ and others at large, on the same date, time and place in aforementioned magisterial district did steal twenty big rollers valued One Million Four Hundred Thousand Naira (N1.4m) property of THISDAY Newspapers 35 Creek Road Apapa, Lagos and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under section 285 of the criminal code laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011.”
