Four persons on Wednesday lost their lives in auto crash at Ewu slope on Okene/Auchi/Benin highway.
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Ken Nwangbe, confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigeria in Auchi.
He said the accident involved an 18-seater Toyata Hiace bus with registration JJ 278 XA and an articulated vehicle with no XY 727 FST loaded with iron rods.
Nwangbe said the incident occurred due to brake failure on the part of the articulated vehicle that was descending the Ewu hill in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo.
He said the Abuja-bound articulated vehicles lost control after the brake failure and collided with a bus which was heading to Benin from Abuja.
He said, “From the report I have from our team at Iruekpen, two males and two females died in the accident while the survivors were rushed to Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital.”
Nwangbe said a combined team of Auchi and Iruekpen units of the FRSC supervised the evacuation of the victims.
