- Prince Uche Secondus has said that the Nigerian economy under Buhari is a failure

- Governor Udom Emmanuel has berated the All Progressives Congress (APC) for defaming the judiciary

President Muhammdu Buhari has been criticised again by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Prince Uche Secondus, the acting national chairman of the PDP, has said Nigeria’s economy under the leadership of Buhari’s All Progressives Congress (APC), has been destroyed.

The PDP chairman, made the statement on Wednesday, February 10, during an interdenominational thanksgiving service organised by the Akwa Ibom state government in celebration of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s Supreme Court victory.

Secondus said the economy has nose-dived and that the value of the naira has depreciated since the APC took over the reins of power. He said: “Nigeria is in the dire need of PDP because you can see the difference".

He said it is very clear that eight months ago the exchange rate was N160 to $1 but today it is N313 to $1. He added that eight months ago vessels with goods were competing to enter our harbours and seaports but today there were none.

“Our economy is sliding, is getting to a point of to my house around 9 o’clock, he abused me and nobody was there in the house. The house belongs to my late father and I am the third son of my father. I was the only person in the house so when he started abusing me we collapse. The political situation in the country is in coma. I will challenge the APC government that it is time to realise that they need the people and not the guns because we are not in the military.

They need the people more than the military,” Secondus said.

Governor Udom in appreciating the PDP chairman's remark, went on to further lambast the APC for defaming the character of the judiciary, following judgments that were delivered by the Supreme Court in favour of the PDP.

The governor recalled with displeasure that the opposition had embarked on campaigns of calumny, blackmail and propaganda to polarise and divide the state on the altar of partisan politics.

While thanking God, the leadership of the PDP and his legal team for the Supreme Court victory, Governor Udom commended security agencies in the state for containing the provocations of the opposition.

He also hailed President Buhari for respecting the principle of separation of powers by not interfering with the judiciary.

Recently, the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) accused President Buhari of plotting to intimidate the judiciary.

According to the association, the recent criticism directed at the judiciary over the current anti-corruption war is unwelcome.

Meanwhile Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti state has disclosed how the PDP can reclaim power from the ruling APC. He said the current generation of PDP will make a difference. He stressed that if they stay together, and put the past behind, then the opposition party "might regain their inheritance".
