- The governor felt betrayed by the action of the sacked member when he dumped him and his party to the APC prior to the Supreme Court verdict which invalidated his electoral victory
Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has sacked Ndubuisi Nwankwo, as a member of the governing council of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education (IAUOE).
Nwamkwo was relieved of his position for defecting to the ruling All Progressives Congress pror to the Supreme Court judgment that validated Wike’s victory as governor of the state.

He was a member of the governorship Inauguration committee setup to usher in the administration of Governor Wike.
He was later appointed a member of the governing council of IAUOE with others.
The governor felt betrayed by Nwankwo for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party to the APC thinking that the Supreme Court will nullify the April 11 governorship election in the state as the Tribunal and Appeal Court had earlier nullified his electoral victory.
However, Wike's mandate was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
Meanwhile, APC had urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take immediate steps to address what it described as ‘rot’ in the apex court.
The party explained that the probe of the Supreme Court would help to restore the dignity of the court.
