One of the filling station attendants at the Anofobi fuel station in Palm Street, Calabar, Cross River State, identified simply as Akpan, has described how a four-man robbery gang killed his colleague on Monday.
He said the men drove into the station and ordered everyone to get inside the office.
“Three of them came down while the driver remained inside the car and Emeka mistook them for one of the several task forces operating in Calabar and demanded to know from which ministry they came from.
“He refused to get inside until they told him which ministry they came from. The robbers shot him in the leg and still ordered him to enter the office. When he found it difficult to move, they shot him the second time and then on the chest and he collapsed.”
He said the gun men, who carted away the day’s sales money, drove away before Emeka could be taken to the hospital.
“When got to the hospital, he was confirmed dead,” he said.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. John Umoh, said the police was on the trail of the gunmen.
