A water tanker on Monday evening crashed into two houses on Danjuma Goje Street in Bauchi metropolis. Daily Trust gathered that the brake of the tanker failed as the driver was trying to reverse, and that he crashed into the first building before entering the second.
The owner of the tanker, Babaji Muhammed Garba, stated that he was at home when he was informed of the incident involving his tanker.
“There was nothing wrong with the tanker before it was taken out by the driver, but it later developed brake and clutch problems. When I got here, I was told that the driver hit the first house when he was trying to reverse, and that in a bid to move from the house, he hit the second building,” he said.The owner of the tanker promised to repair the damaged buildings immediately.
Also speaking, the landlord of one of the two buildings damaged by the tanker, Alhaji Aminu Abubakar Maikobi said, “I was at the Bauchi Broadcasting Corporation (BRC), where I am working when I got a phone call that a tanker had hit my house. On getting here, I discovered that it was only my sitting room that was damaged in the incident.”
