If Jonathan Fails, PDP Has Failed –Youth leader

Peoples Democratic Party said on Wednesday said the performance of President Goodluck Jonathan would determine the future of the party.

National Youth Leader of the party, Alhaji Umar Chiza, said this in Abuja when he received members of the Akwa Ibom State chapter of the party’s Youth Vanguard at the party’s national secretariat, Abuja.

He urged Nigerians and members of the party to support the President.

Chiza said, “Our President is doing well, in spite of the security challenges facing the country.

“If he fails, PDP has failed. If he succeeds, then the party has succeeded. Let us all support him.

“What the country needs more today is peace and unity. If there is no peace there won’t be progress.

“We love peace because we have no other place to be.  We have to remain one. With pace and unity, the sky is the limit for us.”

He said Nigerians had started feeling the impact of the  Jonathan administration, adding that with the  security problems  checked,  the country would be better for it.

He pointed at the improvement in public power supply,  which he said,  was achieved through the  transformation of the power sector and gave assurance that Nigerians would experience almost uninterrupted power supply as soon as most of the new power stations come on stream.

Coordinator of the Akwa Ibom PDP Youth Vanguard, Mr. Jonathan Udofia, said they were at the party secretariat to thank the PDPleaders for their support for Governor Godswill Akpabio.

Meanwhile, the PDP has said  it has resolved to reconcile factions thrown up by conflict of interests among its members nationwide.

Its Chairman, Dr. Bamanga Tukur, said this while receiving the report of the peace  committee that reconciled factions of the party in Benue State.

He said it would be difficult for the PDP to win elections if its members fail to work together as a team, adding that the party would ensure that all factions come together before the next general elections.

Tukur said, “We will continue to reconcile warring factions within the party nationwide because we need to be united before we can win elections and deliver the goods to the electorate.

“There will be problems but we need to listen to the grievances of aggrieved members for us to build a strong party. We need to be united to build a strong government and to build a strong nation.”

Chairman of the peace committee, Alhaji Shuaib Oyedokun, regretted that there were five failed attempts to conduct party congresses in some local governments in Benue State in the past, as a result of disagreements.
