The government of the Northwest state has recognised President Muhammadu Buhari and 29 other people who had a hand in the growth of Kebbi state and the nation in general with the award of excellence.
The people who were recognised over the weekend by Kebbi government during its Silver Jubilee event, which meant celebration of the 25 years in which Kebbi came into existence included Professor Attahiru Jega , one-time INEC chairman , Alhaji Musa Garguwan Yauri , first democratically elected governor of Kebbi, Col JIP Ubah, former military administrator of the state , Justice Usman Muhammed, Justice Umaru Atu Kalgo , Emir of Argungu , Alhaji Ismaila Muhammadu Mera, Alhaji Bashir Haliru Sarki, a professional engineer.
Kebbis state governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, briefly after presentation of the awards to those honoured stated that the award was in recognition of their full contribution to the progress of Kebbi and the country as a whole.
Bagudu said the award was to motivate the awardees for other people to see them as role models, saying that: “For each one recognised, others will be motivated. The awardees made the state proud.”
The governor likewise said Kebbi state agreed to recognise President Muhammadu Buhari by giving him the award in honour of Buhari’s diversification policy agenda aimed at agricultural production in the nation, particularly for initiating the CBN “Anchor Borrowers Programme,” that more than 98 ,000 rice and wheat farmers in Kebbi gained from.
In addition, the Kebbi state number one man said the apex bank under the ‘Anchor Borrowers Programme’ spent at least N15 billion to Kebbi farmers so as to increase their production and that that 90% of the farmers have gotten successful conspicuous harvests.
