An annular eclipse has been experienced in some parts of Nigeria today, September 1.

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) earlier announced that the eclipse will be experienced between the hours of 7.15am and 10.03am with slight variations in actual timing across the country, advising Nigerians not to panic.

An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the sun’s, blocking most of the sun’s light and causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring).
