President Goodluck Jonathan has promised that the October 20 Ondo State governorship election will be free and fair.
The President spoke in Abuja on Monday during the inauguration of the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Election Committee for Ondo State.
Jonathan, who spoke through Vice-President Alhaji Namadi Sambo, said there would be no room for manipulation of votes.
He said, “Mr. President stands on a free and fair election. The President has said we will ensure that the election is free and fair.
“He said that the election would be free and fair. He asked me to assure you of that.”
He urged the state party members to deliver their wards and councils.
Sambo is the chairman of the committee, which also has the Senate President, Senator David Mark; Speaker of House of Representatives, Alhaji Namadi Sambo and former President Olusegun Obasanjo as members.
The PDP Deputy National Chairman, Dr. Sam Sam Jaja, who inaugurated the committee on behalf of Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, the party`s Chairman, was optimism that PDP would emerge victorious at the election.
He said, “Ondo State is a PDP state and is a very important to our party for that matter.
“It was, therefore, a matter of distress to us when we lost it, not through the polls but through a judicial process.”
