“We must support what President Buhari is doing. We must recover stolen funds.”

Rawling who seized power in 1997 through a coup carried out what he termed "house-cleaning" when former government officials suspected of corrupt practises were killed.

More than 300 Ghanaians were either killed or disappeared during his revolutionary approach which some have criticised as being too strict and undemocratic.

Contrary to Useni's position, another senator, Dino Melaye recommended the provision of presidential pardon to militants and looters of the country’s treasury.

He said: “Though an unrepentant advocate for integrity and forthrightness especially from public office holders, l however sincerely want to recommend that Mr. President grants Presidential Amnesty/Pardon to all those who looted our treasury provided they return all proceeds of their loot to the government within six (6) months of the declaration of the Amnesty."
