Jonah Jang, a former governor of Plateau, left jail on Thursday, May 24 after the traditional ruler of Jos, Gyang Buba, who is also the chairman of the state’s council of chiefs and the highest traditional ruler of the Berom speaking people in the state, stood as surety for him.
Jang, who was by the state high court remanded in prison, was granted bail in the sum of N100 million, Premium Times reports.

The former governor was demanded by the Court to provide a surety who must be a first class paramount ruler and also submit his international passport to the court. The surety was also required to deposit his international passport.
The court also granted bail to Yusuf Pam, the second accused person, in the sum of N50 million. After ruling on the bail applications of Jang and Pam, the presiding judge, Daniel Longji, said there would be a major hearing of the trial which he fixed for Tuesday, July 17, Wednesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 19.
The counsel to Jang, Robert Clarks told newsmen that he was pleased with the conditions of the bail. Clarks said his team was prepared to tackle the case and get justice for Jang. Also, Oluwaleke Atolagbe, a counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) said his clients were in support of the bail.

There was rejoicing among Jang's supporters after the bail as almost all his former political appointees attended the court sitting.
Meanwhile, NAIJ.com reported that Jang had allegedly paid off the outstanding electricity bills of Jos prison where he had been locked up since Wednesday, May 16.
Jang was remanded in prison after his arraignment at Plateau state high court on May 16 by the EFCC.
