Many people smoke to keep their hands busy so, a two-minute hand or ear massage when you are craving a smoke can squash your cravings in their tracks. Touching your ear or hand can help calm the mind and eliminate the craving because they are microsystems that represent the whole body. For example, a medical condition that is in your body can be treated by using several points in one microsystem, either your ear or your hand. A two minute massage on these two microsystems can reduce your cravings and make you feel at ease.

2. Drink a lot of water

Drinking plenty of water is the ultimate remedy to treat the habit of smoking. Water will help in detoxifying the body. Whenever you feel the urge to smoke, drink a glass of water. This will not only decrease the craving but will also reduce the withdrawal symptoms.

Some foods make cigarettes taste horribly and others make them taste better. According to research performed at Duke University, coffee, alcohol and read meat all make cigarettes taste better. However, juice, vegetables, fruit and milk can make them taste bad, so loading up on these foods can be helpful when you are trying to quit.

If you are experiencing a cigarette craving, eating increased amounts of fruits, vegetables or drinking a glass of milk may be potential ways to curb your urge to smoke. Cigarette smokers who ate fruits and vegetables an average of 4 or more times per day were 3 times more likely to be tobacco free 14 months later, a study showed.
