Football Club Barcelona is based in the Catalan capital Barcelona, Spain. This team has long history and now it’s one of the best football clubs in the world. Its history started in 1899 when the team was established in Barcelona city by the group of the Swiss, British and Spanish footballers let by Joan Gamper. This football team with Real Madrid and Athletic Bilbao are the only ones which had never left Primera Division since its foundation in 1929. In 1908 FC Barcelona could disappear but Joan Gamper became the president of the club, bought their first own stadium which hosted 8 000 visitors and helped Barca to overcome the crisis. The first legend of the football club Paulino Alcantara was invited to Barcelona by Gamper but the difficult period in the team history didn’t cease. The “reign” of Riviera and then Franko was the hardest period in the FC Barcelona’s history. Joan Gamper committed suicide, the next president Josep Sunyol was killed, the stadium was ruined and the amount of supporters decreased to 3 thousand people. The real Renaissance began in the early 70-s when Johannes Cruiff who became the legend of Barca. This club won Spanish championship and in 1974 Real Madrid was defeated 0:5 by the Catalan team. In 1978 Josep Nunes became the president of Barcelona and the most significant event was transfer of one of the best footballers in history Diego Maradona from Napoli to Barca. One more star Gary Lineker joined the team in 1986. During this period Barcelona won two UEFA Cups. In 1988 the club legend Johannes Cruiff returned as a main coach and the team finally won the first Champions Cup for Barca and Spanish Primera 4 times in a row. There were some other trophys. The main stars of that time were Gvardiola, Ronald Kuman, Nadal, Eusebio, Michael Laudrup and others but then the next decline took place.
In 2006 the second Renaissance of Barcelona began. The team won Champions League and the most important footballers of this era were Ronaldinho, Decu, Luis Figu, Rivaldo, Eto’o and some others. In 2008 the main coach of FC Barcelona became Josep Guardiola and the main star till nowadays became Lionel Messi. The era included winning of two Champions Leagues and plenty of other trophies. Guardiola became the most successive coach in the club history and Leo Messi was recognized the best footballer in the world four times in a row. In Barcelona tourism is highly developed and one of the main tourist’s goals is to visit the legendary Camp Nou and to see the football match of one of the best football teams in the world.
