According to Ekiti state news, the local citizens of the states are supposed to be Yoruba tribe, one of the most ancient and widespread in Nigeria. The population of the state is quite undifferentiated, as most people belong to one tribe and speak one dialect, except official English language.

Ado-Ekiti is a municipal centre of the state. The number of population is more than 360 thousand people, and this number is fastly growing nowadays.

As this city is a capital, it is very developed and a really modern one.

Ekiti news today inform that the history of the city is very old and rich and eventful. People live in the region for a very long time, first references were fixed about eleven thousand years ago. There is no precise information about those ancient people, and no one knows exactly who those people were and from where they arrived, and what is more interesting where they were gone. There is no exact information about whether those people could be the ancestors of modern representatives of the state or no.

The city faces a problem of religion as there are Islam and Christianity widespread in there.
