Background

Enugu state is located in the Southeast region of Nigeria. It is bordered by the states of Benue and Kogi to the north, Ebonyi to the east and southeast, Abia to the south, and Anambra to the west. The state was formed on August 27, 1991 when it was split from the former Anambra State.
