Gombe is a state of Nigeria, situated in the northern-east of the country. By the area it is placed on the 21place, and by the number of people living there – on the 31 place. The population of the state is almost 2, 8 million people. The municipal centre of the state is the cognominal city. The state is one of the underpopulated ones in the whole Nigeria.
It is one of those young states which were founded in 1996 during the military dictatorship in the country. Though being so young it is developing quite fast and successfully.
The population of the Gombe state is quite diversive, as there live representatives of different states, each having its language. So it is sometimes quite difficult for people, living even in one and the same city to understand each other. But most people living in the state belong to the Fula people. This ethnic group has a very rich cultural and historical heritage, they even have their own language, traditions and religious idea. As they still remember violent and inhuman conditions during the period when they had to be slaves, they love freedom and respect of their rights most of all.
The most widespread religion in this state is Islam, and moreover, sharia law is used officially all over the state, according to Gombe state news.
If to speak about the city Gombe, it is the centre of culture, economics, politics and business for the whole state. Also the city is the centre of trade and different producing industries of the state. Many plants and factories, providing people with workplaces and salaries are placed there.
Its population is not very big, just around 300 thousand people.
As this is city is a capital, there is a really high level of education suggested for schoolchildren and students. According to Gombre news there are many schools and play schools, as well as universities and colleges situated in the city.

Also, as many other Nigerian cities and states, Gombre is harshly suffering from the activity of Boko Haram terrorist organization. There is a big number of attacks which took place in the city and caused horrible economic loss and deaths of innocent people living in the city. Authorities are doing everything possible to avoid further attacks and to solve the existing problem concerning this terrorist group as soon as possible.
